About GPLegacy
2005 - “When passion drives you, you don’t think ‘I’m going to take part of something’, you
do everything you can to leave a legacy
- Sergio M. Bustamante, GPLegacy Founder
GPLegacy, a pioneer company
GPLegacy was a pioneer company which aimed to promote Sim Racing on its early stages,
among professional drivers as a training tool in México City, as well as help corporations get
involved in motorsports by showing the potential sim racing had to engage customers in
promotional events.
Thanks to ImageSpace Inc, and especially to Gjon Camaj, with the extraordinary software
rFactor, GPLegacy was able to develop different tracks and cars, with the real physics, to
help drivers like Luis “Chapulín” Díaz, Salvador “Chava” Durán, Michel Jourdain Jr, Juan Pablo
García, Benito Guerra Jr., Francisco “Pancho” Name, Memo Rojas Jr. Just to mention a few
who had an international presence so that they could be recognized. Especially A1GP Team
Mexico Drivers, with GPLegacy as an official sponsor.
We recommend that you take a look at this “About” page in a pc for all the Story in pictures
which can say a lot more than a wordy page in here.
Pedro Rodrigues: GPLegacy Portugal (GhostSpeed), Donnie Werner (USA), Shane Johnson (AUS),
Fernando Cortina (MEX), Alfonso Mireles (MEX), Randy Stratton (USA), Stuart Cowie (UK), Viljami
Maaki (FIN), Priit Saarts (EST), Sergey Poltavskiy (RUS) and many more…
After so many years, a special article called “Old Skool”
written by our friend (And part of the soul of
GPLegacy) Alex Martini, he mentioned the following:
Our simpler (and more practical) raceframes, were always approved
by professionals… and here, the approval of a legend: Jo Ramirez
A decade later, Alex still managed to spell my name wrong.
After the first event at SIAM 2005, we learnt and built the Antartida
2 Raceframe, preparing for an event in just one week’s time: A1GP
The result was so mind-blowing that even the design for the
Antartida IV was pushed to a later date… that never came to fruition
The story is better told in pictures. Logitech, Bridgestone, A1GP Team
México, Tecate, Premiere Editorial, Car Magazine, Telcel, Motorola,
Pegaso Dynamic Center, Danone, Expo Deporte Motor, Tech4Pcs, still
with big plans for La Terrase Renault and Sport Car which we couldn’t
make a reality.

Antartida I Raceframe, rushed, but enough for our first event ever.

Developing for the software, working with Logitech, building better and
better raceframes, it was all really exciting, but nothing as much as being
able to work hand in hand with A1GP Team México, developing models,
liveries, physics, and planning for an authorized software that would hit
the market in 2010.
Being able to see Mexican drivers develop their talents (Sergio “Checo”
Perez, Salvador “Chava” Durán, Picho Toledano, Juan Pablo García, Michel
Jourdain,Davíd Garza, David Martínez, Luis “Chapulín” Díaz (even though
with him we were working closer than ever for developments on his
Grand Am Career… And then with Memo Rojas Jr.
Working with our stickers in the rally cars of Benito Guerra Jr., Francisco
“Pancho” Name, Armando Zapata, the whole Name family… Trying to
provide anything from software to a good time to drivers like Pepe
Montaño, Carlos Pardo (RIP), Claus Schinckel Jr, David Morales, Jonathan
Briseño, Alan Williams, Eduardo Goeters, Rodrigo Marbán, Rafael
Palacios, Alfredo Martínez, and being involved in their races, it was as
good as it gets.
Yet, in Argentina, V-Racer, FMM, and GPLegacy were breaking new
ground, from custom developed simulations for Karting, to Formula cars,
into real Formula cars for testing and training. Martin Bruno, if I haven’t
said it once, I’ll say it again: You embody the spirit that brought GPLegacy
into a reality, to this day, you keep evolving, you have all my respect,
admiration, and friendship.
And then, there was our marriage to A1GP
Grateful for the lines dedicated in here, it’s still a wound I have never
cauterized either.
